The Allure of Overland Travel

Overland journeys can be physically challenging at times, but they offer unique experiences that cannot be encountered while flying. You get to explore the vast natural landscapes and connect with locals, savor local delicacies that are exclusive to the region, and immerse yourself in the customs and traditions of the places you visit.

Embark on the ‘Mexico Cross-Country Overland Journey,’ starting from the northernmost town of Tijuana, which lies on the border with the United States. Traverse the Baja California Peninsula, exploring ancient ruins nestled in hard-to-reach valleys that are not easily accessible by public transport. Witness breathtaking coastal views and vast desert terrains teeming with giant cacti along the way.

Cross the Baja California Gulf on an overnight ferry, arriving at Tequila, the birthplace of tequila, and the state of Michoacán, known for its Purepecha culture. Continue the adventure through the ancient capital of the Aztec Empire, Mexico City, and its surroundings, eventually heading south to explore Mexico’s southern regions.

In the treasure trove of traditions, Oaxaca, engage with the local Zapotec people, marvel at its splendid nature, and visit the archaeological sites of the Veracruz region, known for being the cradle of Mesoamerican civilization that began around 1800 BC, during the Olmec era.

Beyond the Olmec region, enter the realm of the Mayans, interacting with the local Ch’ol community amidst the lush rainforests of Lacandon. Observe precious wildlife and plants while exploring various archaeological sites from the early Mayan period, eventually reaching the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Yucatan is a culinary haven, offering authentic local cuisine that goes beyond tourist adaptations. You’ll have the chance to experience “The Yucatan Cuisine” firsthand. Also, no visit to Yucatan is complete without exploring the natural sinkholes, known as cenotes, which are as close to their natural state as possible. Journey through the late Mayan period’s archaeological sites before finally arriving at the ultimate destination, Cancun.

Our route aims to cover places that are often inaccessible by public transportation, revealing the true essence of Mexico, hidden in these unique locations.
