ブリトはメキシコ料理？

答えから言いますとノーです。 “タコスと並ぶメキシコの代表的な料理「ブリトー」。 たっぷりの野菜とお肉に加え、 ご飯を一緒に包むことも多く、 ひとつだけでも満腹になれる手軽さが魅力です。 今回は本場顔負けの美味しいブリトーを提供している東京のお店をご紹介！ 気軽にメキシコの味を楽しんでみませんか？” これ、皆さんもきっとご存知の某料理の出前屋のホームページで堂々と語られている文句なのです。 タコスと並んでいなければ、 代表的なメキシコ料理でもなく、 本場はメキシコでもなければメキシコの味でもない。 なんか勘違いもいい所、 いや完全に間違いの認識もいいとこですね。（笑） 似ている料理の“原産地”論争は、例えばフォンデューはベルギー出身かフランス出身かというものあります。ある言い伝えによると、、、 1910年のメキシコ革命が近づいていた事、北の方にあるチワワ州のシウダド　フアレス（フアレス市）で、フアン　メンデスという人が屋台で料理した肉などが冷めないようにトルティジャで包んでいて、それをロバ（ブロ）に積んてリオ・グランデ（国境となっている川）を渡ってアメリカで売っていたそうです。そこからブロ⇒ブリト（子ロバという意味）となった説があります。時代は少し戻り1895年、 Direccionario de mexicanismoという辞書に、 Burritoという単語が初めて登場したそうです。それによると、肉や他の食材をトルティジャで包んだものとあります。今日ではタコ（Taco　タコスの単数形）や、ユカタン地方のコシト（Codzito=Cocito）に相当するものです。なぜかその時代にこのブリトはグアナファトで人気になっていたそうで、グアナファトが本家と思われていたほどだとか。 1930年代にLA（ロサンゼルス）に出現し、その後サンフランシスコとラテン社会に広がって行きました。その後も進化を遂げ、現在ではバリエーションが豊富な事でも知られていますね。ちなみにアルミホイルに巻かれ始めたのは片手で食せる様にするためらしいです。皆さん、ということでして、何でもかんでも具材を米で巻けばスシだと思われているのと同じで、 生地で巻けばメキシカンというのも大間違い。是非是非、狭い日本でなんちゃってメキシカンで満足するのではなく、 メキシコで“本場”の“メキシコの味”を存分に味わって下さい！ メキシコでのモットーは、 ¡Vive como mexicanos, come como mexicanos!
